Conversations in New York

“I’m hungry—I really wish I could look this place up and see if they’re still open, but it doesn’t have a name. Or it has a name, but it’s in Japanese and my keyboard doesn’t do Kanji. I don’t even think it has an address.”

The city does feel like a different country at times, and my presence in it should explain the number of recent posts. Expect a more regular schedule shortly, as well as a monster essay on “Ariel Sand’s” memoirish “novel” Never the Face, which I read about first via this interview with Claire Messud.
